The world of science toys and even regular toys is filled with construction toys. Most of them are a dime-a-dozen. Usually some variation on another construcion toy, or with some gimmick like using pennies or magnets. The results have not impress us much.

Uberstix is different.

Uberstix is a basic construction toy that goes back to the roots of such toys. Rather than having fixed sets designed to build only one thing, Uberstix goes back to the basic sets that let a child’s (or adult’s) imagination. Letting them decide what they want to build with only a few hints and instructions. Even when there is a plan to the kit, Uberstix often adds extra pieces so that variations on the design can be made.

But those features are not Uberstix coolest feature. What makes Uberstix so cool is they work with almost all other construction toys!. You can attach your Uberstix pieces to Legos, K’nex, Zoobs, Zome, Erector, etc. This makes Uberstix the most versatile construction toy out there.

Uberstix also aims at older kids and adults with its Uberarc series. Here kids and adults can work from blueprints and over 1,600 Uberstix pieces to build an accurate scale model of a major skyscraper that stands over 5 feet tall! This is not wireframe tower, either. The skyscraper model has solid exterior walls with the shapes of the Uberstix pieces resembling the windows in the skyscraper.

The blueprints resemble true blueprints and actively teach kids how to follow instructions without leading them by the nose. They actually pick up instruction following and improvising skills when working from the blueprints!

But capping off ‘cool things about Uberstix’ listing is that Uberstix has a set where you make a working Catapult out of Uberstix pieces!.

This set also has extra pieces so that you can play with the design to see if you can get it to work better than the primary setup! In fact, the main design uses 90 pieces, leaving you almost 90 more to improve the design! How cool is that?

In working with the theme of working with other pieces from other construction toys, Uberstix also has sets where you build items using common disposable items. The Scavenger Series encourages young builders to use common items to build a dragster or sailboat!
