Stocking Stuffers!
by adminEveryone wants to give big gifts for X-mas. But you also want to consider getting kids (and some older ‘kids’) some smaller ’stocking stuffer’ gifts. We compiled a list of Stocking Stuffers available from Spectrum Scientifics. Our criteria was simple: The price had to be under $7.50, and it had to fit in a classic ‘fireplace stocking’. Here is what we came up with:
A nifty little solar item that can actually serve a good purpose. The beads on this bracelet are normally white while indoors, but once exposed the UV light of sunlight they turn into brightly multi-colored beads. The bracelet can actually be used to tell when you are being exposed to potentially harmful UV rays and should apply sunblock!
The classic toy. Put it in your hand and your body’s heat expands the air in the glass bulbs and makes the liquid seem to ‘boil’. Best for older kids and adults as the handboiler is made of glass.
Another old favorite. Watch the ‘Ooze’ flow from the upper chamber to the lower chamber. Fascinating to watch as the slow flowing liquid makes its way.
We’ve blogged about the sunprint kit before. But it bears repeating that this kit is one of the best little bargains in science. You get 10 sheets of solar-sensitive film with which you can make shadow images of any number of objects from leaves, branches, or whatever else comes to mind.
Its a Giant Balloon! Do we have to say any more?
Write invisible messages or keep a secret diary with this invisible ink pen. Then read it back using the UV LED light. This product has recently been upgraded to include a regular ink pen in addition to the invisible ink pen!
This small orb glows in one of several colors. Have it sit glowing with one color or let it cycle through its available colors. Great as a decoration.
Wind this little toy car up and watch it climb up your refrigerator (doesn’t work on stainless steel fridges). It stays on the door via powerful magnets! Great fun!
These ‘rattlesnake eggs’ are actually magnets that when tossed up in the air click together and make a buzzing/rattling sound as they collide on the way down!
