Nebula Ball

The nebula ball is simply a high frequency electricy that arcs from the center pole to the surrounding glass. This excites the gas inside the ball and makes the attractive colors.
Since it is electricity, it is trying to find the shortest way to ground. When you touch the ball, you become the shortest path to ground and so more to the electricity goes to where your hand is touching. This results in the brighter arc travelling to your hand. The electricty then travels over your body (not through it) and into the ground. It is able to do this because the electricity from the Nebula Ball is very high frequency (lower frequencies prefer to travel through your body, causing damage along the way).
