Light Up Satin Spar
by adminOne of the prettier items we have in our Geology section is the Satin Spar with Illuminated Stand. This a piece of Satin Spar, (a transluscent form of Selenite) with a mirrored, illuminated stand. In the stand are a series of colored LED lights that project into the Satin Spar and illuminate it with bright and attractive colors. This video gives you a sense of the color changes. Sadly, the video looks a bit saturated from the light contrast, but it gives you the idea.
Since they are geological samples, each Satin Spar piece is different. The whole set up costs less than $15, and makes a nifty night light! Runs on 3 ‘AAA’ batteries.
